Housing Support & referral services
At Light of Guidance Foundation, we understand that safe, stable housing is the cornerstone of well-being and belonging. For many newcomers, refugees, and low-income families, finding affordable housing in Canada — especially in cities like Calgary — can be one of the greatest challenges during resettlement. High rent costs, limited availability, lack of credit history, language barriers, and unfamiliarity with local systems can make the process overwhelming and isolating.
Through our Housing Support & Referral Services, we help families navigate these challenges by connecting them to trusted community resources, affordable housing providers, and emergency or transitional shelters when needed. Our dedicated team and volunteers work closely with clients to assess their individual needs, provide guidance on applications, and refer them to organizations that offer rental assistance, tenant advocacy, and housing stabilization programs.
We also collaborate with local housing agencies, cultural associations, and faith-based partners to ensure families receive support that is not only practical but also culturally sensitive and respectful. For vulnerable families, especially those with children, our goal is to reduce the stress and uncertainty that come with housing insecurity — offering pathways to safe environments where they can rebuild stability, confidence, and hope for the future.
At its heart, our housing support efforts are about more than shelter — they are about restoring dignity and creating a foundation for families to thrive.
