Our Journey

The Light of Guidance Foundation (LOG Foundation) began with a commitment to support youth in Calgary facing barriers to opportunity and well-being. Through listening to young people and their experiences, we quickly learned an essential truth that youth are part of families and every young person’s journey is shaped by their family, environment and social/economical conditions surrounding them. Poverty, systemic barriers, instability, food insecurity and limited access to services impact them and their families. Recognizing this truth transformed our work and expanded our purpose.

Today, LOG Foundation is a grassroots, community driven organization dedicated to the relief of poverty and the holistic support of children, youth and families across Calgary.  We believe that when families are supported, young adults are better position to thrive.

We walk alongside children and youth in their journeys of education, career development, networking, and building safe, positive social circles, while uplifting families by addressing both immediate needs and long-term challenges.

Director’s Message

At Light of Guidance Foundation, we believe that true and lasting change begins with compassion in action. Since our inception, we’ve witnessed the remarkable strength and resilience of individuals and families — especially newcomers, refugees, and radicialized communities — who continue to rebuild their lives in the face of uncertainty and adversity. Many arrive in Canada with hope in their hearts but encounter many challenges such as language barriers, isolation, cultural adjustment, unemployment and limited access to essential supports.  For some, food and essentials insecurity deepen their struggles.  These realities remind us why our work matter because behind every statistic is a human story worth of dignity, care and opportunity.

Our mission is rooted in that belief. Through our community programs, we not only provide food, clothing, and essential goods — we provide connection, understanding, and empowerment. We strive to create safe, inclusive spaces where youth can grow with confidence, where families can find hope, and where every individual feels seen and supported.

We are not simply offering charity; we are building pathways to belonging and resilience. By addressing the social and emotional barriers that so often accompany resettlement and marginalization, we aim to nurture mental wellness, reduce stigma, and inspire positive change that ripples through generations.

Together, with our dedicated volunteers, supporters and collaborators, we are lighting the way toward a more compassionate, inclusive and empowered future for all Calgarians.

Vision

At Light of Guidance Foundation, we envision a community where poverty-related barriers are reduced and children, youth, and families have equitable access to the support, education, and resources they need to thrive. Through collaboration and community-driven action, we work to uplift individuals, strengthen families, and build a more connected Calgary. We are committed to the relief of poverty by addressing all kinds of insecurities, connecting families to essential services and creating safe, inclusive spaces for support, learning and healing.

Guided by empathy, dignity, and equity, we strive to be a trusted hub for charitable outreach and youth empowerment, working alongside partners and communities to create lasting, positive change.
